In a country far seen,

Where the roads glitter and the sky is clean,

I landed with a dream in my heart,

Want to make it big, need to make it fast.

 I came in terms with the harsh truths,

It did not work out as I thought it would.

Lonely heart with umpteen desires,

Different circumstances, consequences dire. 

I lost my flesh I lost my kin.

My hands were tied my strength was pinned.

I have only memories to share but most to hurt,

My soul is gloomy, my spirit in dearth.

There is so much buried deep inside,

No one to share with, no one to stand beside.

Even my shadow seems to disappear,

When we lose everything, we even lose our fears.

In pursuit of happiness, there is a long way to go.

I have to sail my boat whether the tides are high or the winds low.

My perspective for life has changed,

What all was so obvious has now become strange.

Feelings revealed, friends exposed,

Faith burnt, the fire doused.

I wonder if there is still more to it,

Just want to be there before I lose my wits.

I have left everyone behind for them only,

I have a heart that is in pain and is so lonely.

Having lost so much so soon,

The warmth from the sun, the sparkle from the moon,

I just want to take a leap and grab the stars,

However, my stride is slow and the horizon far.

But they say that when it’s darkest, it’s closest to dawn,

I need to keep the courage, the strength that I own.

Far from my people for whom I came,

I realized that all my claims to be strong were not all that lame.

I can see that far away there is a dim glow of light,

I have to keep my pace; I have to focus my sight.

For I have so many reasons to win, so many reasons to try,

I have so many hopes on me; just can’t let it go by.
